Theresa Roberts is a director and producer based in Perth. Her filmmaking is driven by a passion for female-led stories and authentic coming-of-age narratives, exploring what it means to be a young person today.

Her debut short film, Bathers, premiered at CinefestOz in 2024 before screening at several film festivals nationally and internationally. The film won First Place for Editing at the Swan International Film Festival, received two WA Screen Arts Award nominations for Best Short Film and Outstanding Screenwriting, earned a nomination for Exceptional Directing at the Young Australian Film Festival, and was selected for My Queer Career Competition at the Mardi Gras Film Festival in Sydney. Bathers has also screened internationally at OUTSOUTH Film Festival in the United States and the Bilbao Surf Film Festival in Spain.

In 2023, she was one of four writers across Australia selected for the WIFT Writer's Retreat at CinefestOz, and in 2024 she won First Place at Revelation Film Festival's Pitch'd Battle for her psychological thriller Bluesfest. Her winning pitch impressed a judging panel that included producers Tania Chambers and Shane McNeil, alongside established screenwriter Jesse Laurie.

In 2025, Theresa wrapped production on her second short film, Good Luck Chelsea. The film follows 14-year-old Chelsea as she races against time to reach her ballet exam with just one hour to go and no one to turn to. The project was funded through a crowdfunding campaign and supported by local City arts grants.

Most recently, Theresa was awarded the City of Vincent Film Project Fund to produce the short documentary To Be Proud, which is slated to premiere at Revelation Perth International Film Festival 2026.

She was also selected as a recipient of Screenwest's highly competitive 2025 Elevate Short Film Fund, receiving a $70,000 grant to direct her original short film Your Turn. The film is slated for production in late 2026.
